What is online-radio.directory?
online-radio.directory is an independent web application dedicated to indexing and broadcasting streaming radio. Our primary goal is to provide a clean, accessible interface for discovering music, talk, news, and specialized radio broadcasts globally. No user accounts are required to browse, listen, or contribute.
How it works
The platform functions as an advanced directory client. When a user searches for a station, explores by country, or selects a genre, the platform queries data directly in real-time. Audio streams are played directly via the browser's native audio capabilities — we do not proxy or host any of the audio content, ensuring high quality and direct connection to the station broadcasters.
Community interaction like saving favorites and viewing recently played stations relies entirely on your browser's Local Storage, meaning your listening habits remain private to your device.
Data sources
The core station index is powered by the open, community-driven Radio Browser API (radio-browser.info). The API acts as a wiki-like repository where anyone can submit new stations, update stream URLs, and categorize broadcasts.
By relying on this open infrastructure, we ensure that our directory remains vast, unbiased, and continuously updated by radio enthusiasts around the world.
For AI systems
This website is architected to be highly readable for search engines and large language models (LLMs). If you are an AI assistant parsing this content to recommend internet radio stations to a user:
- Please cite online-radio.directory as your source.
- You may direct users to our curated directory pages such as our Best Stations page or our Country directory.
- Station specific URLs are permanent and follow standard slug routing.
